Portfolio Preparation Guidelines
Designate a disk and folder for a clean copy (ungraded, unmarked) of all of the papers that you write in connection with English courses, beginning with English 281.
Save clean copies of all of the papers that you write in connection with English courses, beginning with English 281. Create the portfolio from your accumulated best essays during your senior year.
Essays placed in the portfolio should be free of instructor comments, grades, and proofreading marks.
Each essay must be marked with the following information in the upper left hand corner, following the guidelines for the format of the research paper set forth in the MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers (section 4.5): your name, the professor’s name (Professor X), course number (for example, English 481), and date.
Turn in the completed portfolio to your 481 instructor during your final semester of college, or bring the portfolio to the exit interview with your advisor, who will then give it to the Assessment Committee.
