Dr. Pillsbury visiting algal collection at Kew Gardens, London

Dr. Robert W. Pillsbury

I am a new faculty member at University of Wisconsin in Oshkosh, WI.  I am currently an assistant professor in the Department of Biology.

I am a broadly trained aquatic ecologist.  Some of the places I've conducted research include the Kissimmee River (Florida), Saginaw Bay (Michigan), Wild Rice lakes (Northern Wisconsin), and acidic lakes and bogs (Northern Michigan).  For the bulk of my research I have used algae, and diatoms in particular, as indicators of environmental conditions.  To learn more about this research  please click here.

In addition to my research, I enjoy teaching.  Last semester I taught Biology 106, a non-major's survey course of biology, "Concepts in Biodiversity".  This semester I am teaching Bio 260 "Environment and Living Systems", Bio 766 "Wetlands Ecology" seminar, Bio 106 "Concepts in Biodiversity", and I will be leading the Friday seminars for graduate students.  Look at my "Courses" link to learn more!

To learn more about aquatic ecosystems of the Upper Midwest and some of my personal interests, take a look at "Interests & Links".

Thank you for visiting my home on the web. If you have any questions, please feel welcome to contact me.
