The editors have selected these articles because they exhibit high standards of scholarship and because they are characteristic of work published by NCS. No single essay, however, could fully represent the range of work we publish, dedicated as the journal is to interdisciplinary scholarship; and some contributions to the journal—for example, those in art history, featuring illustrations—may have been excluded for entirely practical reasons as samples for Web presentation. If potential contributors have questions about the appropriateness of their work that are not answered by this website, we invite you to obtain a copy of the printed journal and examine its character and, if questions remain, to contact the Editor.
