Title: Sustainable World
Course: WBIS 188
Section: 033
Instructor: Robson, Andrew
"Sustainabilty" is often defined in ethical terms, requiring that we behave in ways that enable us to pass on to future generations a world that is as healthy as possible, but what does this mean, how can we do this--and how are we doing this on campus? One important document, The Earth Charter, makes it clear that sustainability is not only an envionmental or ecological issue but is also a matter of social and economic justice and democracy, nonviolence, and peace. These notions will be explored through reading, film, discussion, and lots of writing. Guest speakers may include people from campus, and the class will also benefit from Earth Charter Community Summit events on campus during the semester.
