Descriptions for Spring 2008

Title: Through Your Looking Glass
Course: WBIS 188
Section: 030
Instructor: Trettin-Moyer
The course examines the supposition that an individual's identity is dependent upon his/her interaction with other people or the environment and that the identity created has variability and often only has significance in terms of personal response and reflection. We exist with a duality of audience--adult and child. What mirrors do we place before us and how do we accept the reflections? Since the elements of time, place, community, and size may distort our reflections, how many ways are there to look at a situation/event? Ultimately, we will use language to create responses that are academically sound and relevant to purpose.
