The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Writing Center aims to help all students become better writers.
- We assist both experienced and inexperienced writers through free one-on-one sessions with consultants trained to assist at any stage of the writing process for any assignment or project and in any discipline.
- Our core philosophy is that no one is ever finished with the task of becoming a better writer; therefore, the Writing Center strives to offer a friendly, supportive atmosphere for writers from diverse backgrounds and life experiences who have a wide range of writing needs.
- We aim to provide writers a safe place to explore and develop their ideas and to become better writers and critical thinkers through collaborative learning, while recognizing that writers must take full authority over their own writing.
- We offer a peer-centered, collaborative approach to writing assistance that places content before form or format, a model supported by decades of international research in writing center theory and best practices.
Tutors' Tip of the Week:
After the paper is complete, go back and make sure your thesis is supported throughout your paper. Sometimes your thesis has changed as you've been writing, and sometimes you've included excess information. The Writing Center can help you revise to correct these issues.
Quotation of the Week:
“Every writer I know has trouble writing.”
— Joseph Heller
20th-century American writer
